The Insight: As much as we don't like to admit it, people still do judge a book by its cover.

The Idea: Show how a clean-cut shave with Barbasol can leave lasting first impressions.


I created these GIFs and billboards with a real hard focus on the tone. Barbasol is an old-school rules type of product. If someone doesn't mention how their grandaddy and great-grandaddy used the self-same product, then they're probably not talking about Barbasol. I tried to infuse a little bit of that attitude with a straightforward, tell-it-like-it-is tone. 

The visual style I created for these was minimal, masculine, and a little bit rough around the edges. I wanted to keep tying back to the idea that sometimes the old way of doing things were the way of doing things for a reason.


I kept thinking about how a bad first impression might effect someone, and the first thing, as a hopeful student on the hunt for work, that came to mind was a job interview.
